CELEBRATION OF GREATNESS – Females of Belleville Sports Hall of Fame

The inaugural 1987 Induction Class included two accomplished female athletes in Betty Ingram Wonnacott and Sarah Thompson. The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame came into being in 1987 and today has over 100 athletes, builders and teams as members.

The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame, located in the Dr. R. L. Vaughan Atrium at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Center, is planning to host the 2021 Induction Ceremony on Saturday, August 28

It wasn’t unusual for teams to incorporate their sponsor’s name into their nicknames. McFarland Construction was the most obvious. The Belleville “Reliance” was the city’s first OHA Senior team in 1942.

Shannonville Motorsport Park has a long and rich history in the Canadian racing industry. It was announced back in October 2019 that John Bondar and Steve Gidman acquired the long-time privately-held Shannonville Motorsport Park.
