The origins of BUDA is shrouded in much mystery and mystique. Like all great stories the beginning gets lost with time.
The early years of Ultimate Frisbee in Belleville were quite similar to how they were just a few short years ago. We would meet every Wednesday night and the occasional weekend for a game of pick-up. We would see who showed up to play, and we would divide the players accordingly. For several years it was a small, yet fun, social group of 10 to 20 players.
During the last 5 years we have grown our league to 150 members! We continue to strive to have fun and organized Ultimate in Belleville while encouraging Spirit of the Game in our co-ed adult league. We are proud to see everyone having fun on the field, to see women actively getting involved in a sport they love and parents having some time to play while kids cheer from the sidelines. The future is bright for Ultimate in our area: youth, competitive, tournaments are all areas to be developed. So many opportunities!
The main goal for the Belleville Ultimate Disc Association is to keep the game fun, with the spirit of the game the main priority. The score should be a secondary consideration. Respect, spirit and sportsmanship should be every player’s top consideration. Run hard, jump hard, throw hard, but play with spirit.
At the end of the day we are here to have fun, get some exercise, and share some laughs after the game with your fellow players.
