The road to the Calder Cup Playoffs is getting narrower for the Belleville Senators, but it’s not a dead end. Belleville continued its seven-game homestand on Wednesday night by suffering a 5-2 loss to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning), the team they were directly chasing for the North’s final playoff spot.
The Trenton Golden Hawks showed why they’re among the top teams on the country, as they finished off the Spirit 5-0 in game five, winning the East semifinal four games to one.
The Bonn Law U14 AAA Quinte Red Devils are looking forward to the OHL Cup and final tournament of the season, coming up in a few weeks down the road in Kingston, ON at the Invista Centre. It was another frustrating evening for the Belleville Senators at CAA Arena on Wednesday night. Despite outshooting the Cleveland Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets) 33-28, Belleville dropped a 5-1 decision, giving up valuable points on the push for a third Calder Cup Playoff berth
There are teams, down 2-0 and heading on the road in a playoff series without a star player, that would have thrown in the towel. Not the Stouffville Spirit. After trailing 1-0 for more than half the game, Stouffville rallied for a 2-1 win at Trenton, and cutting the Golden Hawks series lead in half.
