The Belleville Senators did what they had to do on Friday night at CAA Arena, knocking off the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres) 5-0 to collect a couple more points in the race for the Calder Cup Playoffs.

The road to the Calder Cup Playoffs is getting narrower for the Belleville Senators, but it’s not a dead end. Belleville continued its seven-game homestand on Wednesday night by suffering a 5-2 loss to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning), the team they were directly chasing for the North’s final playoff spot.
The Trenton Golden Hawks showed why they’re among the top teams on the country, as they finished off the Spirit 5-0 in game five, winning the East semifinal four games to one.
