Following a successful 2022-2023 campaign, the Belleville Spirits girls basketball program will look to continue that momentum into next season. Three Spirits teams captured provincial gold – U16 in Division 1, U14 and U19B in Division 5 – while the U19A team placed third in the highest OBLX level.
Cristy Latham is the fourth Director of Athletics and Recreation in Loyalist College’s history and the first female athletic director in college history, it was announced in June.
This year, the Clippers proudly fielded five rep teams and one development team, all of whom demonstrated remarkable growth, resilience, and passion for the game. The club also had over 220 players take part in its annual Spring House League for players in kindergarten through Grade 8.
Quinte Mohawk School – Intermediate Girls Basketball Team Wins Championship
This year saw the return of the Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board elementary championships.
The U16 girls won Gold in Div 1 at Ontario Cup this weekend, making them 9th overall provincially! Our 14’s won gold last weekend, and things are looking good for our two U19 teams competing this weekend – one for Ontario Cup, and one for the Provincial Championship.

Both seeded second in their respective tournaments, the Centennial Secondary School Chargers claimed silver at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations girls ‘AA’ championship tournament Nov. 24-26 in Stratford while the Nicholson Catholic College Crusaders were the runner-up at the OFSAA girls ‘A’ showdown the same weekend in Walkerton.
With a sweep of the Bay of Quinte championship doubleheader at Loyalist College, both the junior and senior girls basketball teams at Centennial Secondary School are headed to their respective Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics tournaments this week.
The County Clippers youth basketball organization welcomes players back for another season for both rep and finally house league as well.
