Why would anyone want to coach? It’s a good question. I was asked this very question a few weeks ago. Coaching isn’t just about a few players out on a field, court or rink. It’s about parents, grandparents, opponents, referees, other coaches, league mandates, executive committees, and most recently Covid and lockdowns, the list goes on.

There’s something about team sports that Clover Boyd loves. It doesn’t matter if it’s volleyball, soccer or rugby.Â

Competing at the provincial championship was a huge accomplishment, but the Quinte Christian High School Eagles were grateful just to have a volleyball season this year.

While a career in the military can be challenging, sports provide an outlet to decompress, gain additional fitness and interaction with others from across the base.

Opportunities for young women are endless in sports now as it relates to university and college. As the sport evolves and develops we are all hopeful that a viable and sustainable pro model is developed in the near future.

For professional women’s team sports it has been even more dire, however there are signs of improvement.
As our community continues to grow and the gaps between our rural areas decrease, it only makes sense to allow for our sports associations to evolve and become more efficient in order to foster development of our athletes.Â
