Pegasus Cheer name remains during rebrand to Zone Athletics

Supporters of Pegasus Cheer are cheering on a rebrand to Zone Athletics.

The rebrand to Zone Athletics reflects the way the recreational sports facility has grown and expanded in recent years.

The company was founded in 2014 as a cheerleading gym but grew to offer recreational cheerleading, tumbling, and parkour classes, in addition to PA Day camps, summer and holiday camps, and birthday parties. In the last three years, the athletic facility has expanded their programs and camps to almost double its size, as well as adding a second unit to their facility.

“We’ve had an amazing and positive response from our staff, families, and community after releasing the new name on April 29,” said Rachelle Provost, a coach as well as marketing director for Zone Athletics and Pegasus Cheer. “We hosted our grand reopening event on July 15 and saw over 250 people in attendance. It was a very large project that took a lot of time, effort, and collaboration from multiple people on our team and many local businesses and we’re very proud of the results.”

The Pegasus Cheer Athletics name remains in place solely for Zone’s growing All-Star Competitive cheerleading program that competes at events throughout the province, nationally and internationally. This past season, the gym saw 116 athletes on their cheerleading teams, their largest registration to date.

“Pegasus Cheer is still around. Pegasus remains Quinte’s only all-star competitive cheerleading program offering teams, individual and duo routines, and stunt groups for individuals of all abilities ages three-plus,” Provost said. “We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, nurturing, inclusive, and positive place for our athletes to develop to their full potential. The biggest difference for the community is that our name now shows that we do more than cheerleading.”

Provost said  Zone Athletics embodies the gym’s growth and development into a recreational sports facility.

“As a facility, we now offer recreational programming for newborns to adults,” she said. “Our programs include cheerleading, tumbling, and parkour classes, in addition to field trips, events, day camps, and birthday parties. We also offer daytime programming with a drop-in, parent-led program called The Play Zone for newborns to age 6 and programs for families that are homeschooling. Our day camps are one of our largest programs as we welcomed 50 campers per week this summer for 10 weeks.”

Zone Athletics aims to build strong, healthy leaders in the community beginning at a young age with the goal to create an environment that teaches and models its core values that transfer to all aspects of a child’s life.

“If your child is high energy, loves movement, and is flipping all around the house or lawn, send them to Zone Athletics,” Provost said. “We will teach them how to safely flip, jump, roll, grip, and run in a fun filled and supportive environment. They will leave class each week feeling successful, empowered, sweaty, and tired. They will experience fitness, friendship, and fun each time they visit.”

Zone Athletics is offering a Back-to-School special for new families which can get four weeks of cheerleading, tumbling, or parkour classes for $49. Sign up at joinpegasuscheer.com.
