Stajan has fond memories of Belleville

Former Belleville Bulls star Matt Stajan, who went on to play more than 1,000 games in the National Hockey League, joined the Total Sports Northumberland podcast this week.

Stajan recalled how playing in Belleville launched his career, although he wasn’t sure initially he would even make the Ontario Hockey League club considering he was a fourth-round draft pick a year after the draft he was originally eligible for.

Stajan also spoke about the work ahead for players, such as those from the Quinte Red Devils, whether they were drafted (no matter what number they were selected at) or not.

You can check out the full interview on the Total Sports Northumberland website. Stajan also talks about his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames and starting to do some broadcasting work now that he’s retired.
