Zack Carrier had another outstanding game to carry the offence in the Wellington Dukes 5-3 over the Lindsay Muskies on Saturday night.

The Kingston-area product notched two goals, including the game-winner and added a pair of assists for a four-point effort in a feisty and chippy affair at the Lindsay Rec Complex.

Lindsay opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first courtesy of Logan Brown.

The Dukes did strike back early in the second on a missed opportunity from the Muskies that rolled along the goal line and out, leading to a two-on-one with Carrier setting up the trailing Ethan Murray for a shot that beat Noah Kraus blocker-side.

After Murray went down, Vince Albanese stepped into his spot on the Dukes top line and went dashing away down the left wing to rip home his first of the season and put the Dukes ahead.

On a fast rush, the Muskies tied the game on a quick cut around the Dukes defence by Joaquin Gonzalez, who touched the crossbar on a backhand and left a rebound in the crease for Nolan Miller to jam in, setting the stage for a chaotic third period.

Quinte Red Devils graduate Kaden Koutroulides put Lindsay back ahead at 3:41 of the third, but a solo effort from Trudel on a powerplay pulled Wellington even again and cued the winning play.

Carrier took a pass from Trudel and lasered a beautiful shot short-side over Kraus’ left shoulder to put the Dukes ahead for good with only 4:09 to play in the third, before scoring in the empty Muskies cage to seal the victory.

Colby Booth-Housego made 27 stops in the game, as Lindsay outshot Wellington 30-24.

Wellington rounds out its first busy weekend of the season with another home tilt at Lehigh Arena at 2:30 Sunday afternoon versus the Markham Royals.
