Royals Domination & Major Tournaments Arriving

Baseball in the Bay of Quinte region is currently reaching a thrilling late-summer peak, highlighted by historic local seasons and upcoming provincial championship tournaments. Local diamonds across Trenton, Belleville, and Tyendinaga are buzzing as the Quinte Royals Baseball Club and community house leagues wrap up regular season play and prepare to host top-tier provincial talent.

Here is a breakdown of what is happening on the diamonds around the Bay of Quinte right now:

Royals Domination & Major Tournaments Arriving

The rep baseball scene has seen massive success this summer, particularly from the Quinte Royals U11 Select Team, who finished their regular season with a spectacular undefeated 16-0 record

Because of the region’s strong infrastructure and active baseball community, the Bay of Quinte has been selected to host multiple major championship weekends:

  • EOSBA 11U DS Championship Weekend: From August 21–23, 2026, Bain Park in Quinte West will host the Eastern Ontario Select Baseball Association championships.
  • OBA 12U ‘A’ & 16U ‘A’ Provincial Tournaments: Over the upcoming Labour Day Weekend (beginning September 3, 2026), the Quinte Royals will host these prestigious Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) tournaments.
  • Local Venues Featured: Championship games will take over local hubs including Bain Park and the Don Ogden Diamond in Trenton, as well as Rotary Park in Belleville and the Bayshore Diamond.

House Leagues Conclude Action-Packed Seasons

For recreational youth players, summer programs have successfully provided skill development and community action across major local associations:

  • Quinte West Mudcats (QWABA): The Quinte West Amateur Baseball Assoc saw packed divisions from 9U to 15U, utilizing diamonds in Trenton, Brighton, and Tyendinaga for dynamic local travel matchups. Their year-end 13U West tournament concluded in early August.
  • Belleville Amateur Baseball Association (BABA): Belleville’s programs at Thurlow Fields and other city hubs gave hundreds of local youth—from Blast Ball to 19U midget divisions—a complete 12-week schedule that wrapped up at the beginning of August.

High School and Historic Adult Milestones

Earlier this year, local high school ball concluded with the Centennial Chargers claiming the Bay of Quinte Baseball Championship in dramatic fashion, staging a massive comeback against East Northumberland before defeating Bayside 12-2 in the finals.

On the adult side, the historic South Hastings Baseball League (SHBL) has been celebrating its 93rd consecutive year of local baseball history. Seven teams from around the county have been battling all summer for the legendary Thornton Portt Memorial Championship Trophy, continuing a regional tradition that dates back to 1933
