The Trenton Golden Hawks opened 2022 with a decisive 7-1 defeat against the host North York Rangers in Ontario Junior Hockey League action Sunday, Jan. 2 at the Herbert Carnegie Centre.
North York (23-7-2-0), which leads the OJHL with 48 points, jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the midway mark of the second period and tallied three more unanswered goals in the third period.
Dalton Bancroft scored the lone Trenton goal at the 10:48 mark of the second. Bancroft leads the Golden Hawks with 53 points (15 goals, 38 assists) in 29 games.
Trenton (19-8-0-2) still leads the OJHL’s East Division with 40 points.
