First-round playoff schedules have been announced for Quinte’s two Ontario Junior Hockey League clubs.
Following an extension of the regular season, the first-round OJHL matchups this year will be best-of-three showdowns. The second and third rounds will be best-of-five with only the Buckland Cup league championship series being a best-of-seven affair.
The top four teams in each division qualified for the playoffs this year.
In the East Division, the first-place Wellington Dukes (34-13-0-7) will take on the fourth-place Cobourg Cougars (28-19-1-6). Game 1 is scheduled for this Sunday, April 10, 7:30 p.m. at Lehigh Arena in Wellington and the Cougars will host Game 2 on Monday, April 11, 7 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre. If necessary, the series will shift back to Wellington for Game 3 on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the second-place Trenton Golden Hawks (36-16-0-2) are set to battle the third-place Haliburton County Huskies (33-16-1-4). The Golden Hawks will host Game 1 on Sunday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m. at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens in Trenton before the Huskies welcome their opponents to Minden for Game 2 on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled for Thursday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Trenton.
