FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 17th, 2026
Belleville, ON – The Bay of Quinte Minor Football League (BQMF) is excited to announce its official debut in the Belleville area and surrounding communities for the Spring 2026 season. BQMF is a registered non-profit organization that will launch with five founding teams representing communities across the region.
The league will offer local house league tackle football for students currently in Grades 5 through 8, with teams based in Napanee, Campbellford, Quinte West, Belleville West, and Belleville East.
Although BQMF and the Quinte Skyhawks are moving forward as separate organizations, our shared commitment to growing minor football in our region remains stronger than ever.
Skyhawks will continue to actively support grassroots development and work alongside BQMF supporting the importance of a strong local house league program that introduces new players to the game and fosters a fun, community-focused football experience. BQMFL will continue to collaborate with Skyhawks to ensure that players who wish to pursue rep-level football can be better prepared to access that pathway.
Together, we remain united in one goal: building opportunities for every young athlete to thrive in the sport of football.
BQMF is committed to the following:
- Providing students in Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 with the opportunity to participate in full-contact house league tackle football in a safe, structured, and organized environment.
- Bringing together students from across the Bay of Quinte region through organized league play supported by qualified referees, timers, sideline officials, and assistants.
- Encouraging youth participation in physical activity while fostering character development, teamwork, and a strong understanding of football fundamentals.
- Promoting the game of contact football in a way that prioritizes player safety, development, and sportsmanship.
Registration will open on February 20, 2026, with additional information and registration links available at www.bayofquinteminorfootball.com
Practices will begin after March Break, with the first league games tentatively scheduled for May 2026. Teams will play a minimum of four regular-season games, followed by playoffs culminating in Championship Saturday on June 20, 2026.
