Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League action has returned for the Deseronto Bulldogs and Tweed Oil Kings.
Coming off a 4-3 loss to the Frontenac Flyers when play resumed Jan. 31, the Bulldogs were defeated 5-3 by the Gananoque Islanders on Saturday night at the Deseronto Community Recreation Centre.
A third-period goal from Austin Collins with 7:46 left to play cut the deficit to one for the Bulldogs, but the Islanders secured the victory with an empty-net tally during the final minute of regulation time.
Jordan Cannons and Luigi Martone also scored for Deseronto. Earning assists were Ryan Dreossi, William Harrison, Quinn Chevers-Whorms, Joey Mayer and Brodie Maracle.
Tom Dickson led the Islanders with two goals while teammate Kris Newbury, a former Toronto Maple Leafs player, earned three assists.
In other action, the Tweed Oil Kings were on the road and fell 5-2 to the host West Carleton Rivermen.
Andrew Rhynold scored both goals for the Oil Kings while Cody Warren, Devin McCann and Joel Marshall drew assists.
Both local EOSHL senior A entries will look to get back in the win column next Saturday, Feb. 12. The Oil Kings will host the Smiths Falls Rideaus at 2 p.m. in Tweed while the Bulldogs will be on the road to face the Phantoms at 8:15 p.m.
