OHF U15 ‘A’ championships in Trenton this weekend

The Ontario Hockey Federation U15 ‘A’ championship tournament is underway at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens in Trenton and continues until Sunday.

The OHF championship tournament features some top teams from around the province, including this year winners and runners-up of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario and the Northern Ontario Hockey Association champion. Normally the host team is an extra entry, but not this year.

Competing this weekend are the host Quinte West Golden Hawks, which were also the OMHA champion so the Owen Sound Jr. Attack (OMHA runner-up) earned a spot as well, London Jr. Knights (ALLIANCE champion), Hamilton Huskies (ALLIANCE runner-up) and Chapleau Huskies (Northern Ontario champion).

Quinte West will play its round-robin games Friday at 11:45 a.m. against Owen Sound and 7 p.m. against London at 7:30 p.m. following the opening ceremonies and continue on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. against Hamilton and conclude preliminary play at 4 p.m. against Chapleau.

The U15 Image Landscaping Golden Hawks went undefeated through regular season, playdowns and the OMHA championship tournament so are certainly considered to be an OHF favourite, though will have a challenging task to win the championship against the strong opposition this weekend.

Team members for the U15 Golden Hawks are Jack Andrews, Cole Baird, Jacob Brummell, Keagen Carr, Colby Coe, Elijah Davis, Brock Davy, Carson Down, Ethan Kenney, Ethan Lord, Bryce Mitchell, Charlie Mooney, Brody Pilatzke, Dryden Riley, Nathan Sills, Dexter Slone, Avery Wease and Tate Webb. They also have four affiliate players (not pictured): Tyson Gregory, Eli Kenney, Cooper Martin and Brendan Reid.

Admission this weekend at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens is $10 for a day pass. You can also purchase a full weekend pass at $20 for students and seniors and $25 for adults.
