There will be a Game 6 in the 2025 Ontario Junior Hockey League Championship Series.
The visiting Milton Menace saw to that with a 4-2 win over the Trenton Golden Hawks at Duncan Memorial Gardens in Trenton Monday night.
Trenton still leads the series, 3-2.
That sixth game goes Wednesday night in Milton. If necessary, Game 7 would be played Saturday in Trenton.
Justin Dezoete scored what proved to be the winning goal with 45 seconds remaining in the second period on the Menace power play.
Dezoete, a 21-year-old from Hamilton, praised the Milton faithful for their support this season.
“Feeling great. Glad the boys got the job done,” he said on the OJHL Postgame show on social media. “Obviously a lot of work still to do. We’re excited to be going back to Milton and force a Game 7.
“It’s huge, we don’t have the biggest rink in the world but just to see how much support we get from Milton and the surrounding area just means the world to us as players. Any time you show up to the rink and the building’s packed and you’ve got kids asking for a stick or an autograph and stuff like that, it means the world to us and pumps us up even more. Can’t thank Milton and everyone around for supporting us and hopefully they pack the building again for Game 6.”
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period. Milton led 3-2 after two.
Ivan Fabjan had two goals for Milton, including an empty-netter. He has 12 playoff goals this year. Dean Deligeorgis had the other Milton goal, 2:42 into the game.
Taeo Artichuk and Trevor McDowell replied for Trenton.
Shots on goal were 31 per team.
Attendance was a series-high 1,376 – 71 more people than Milton drew Friday night.
The OJHL champions will advance to the Centennial Cup national championship tournament in Calgary, Alberta, and play the Manitoba champs in the opening game of the event, May 8.
