QRD Announces 2021-22 Player Development Coaches

The QRMHA is pleased to announce our Player Development Coaches, led by Chris Longo. Goaltending development coaches will be announced soon.

2021-22 Player Development Team

The Quinte Red Devils player development team will once again be led by Chris Longo. Chris is an assistant coach with the OHL Kingston Frontenacs, and brings many years of experience to this role. He is an OHL grad spending 2 years in Kingston followed by 3 year as a member of the Peterborough Petes. He was drafted in the 3rd round, 51st overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1990 NHL draft. After a successful career in the AHL and the IHL, Chris returned to Belleville where he has been helping young hockey players reach the next level and achieve success in their hockey careers.

Cobourg’s Ethan Miedema is one player for the Red Devils Derek Smith is currently the head coach of the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL. He is a QRD grad who played for 4 years with the Wellington Dukes before moving on to 4 years at Lake Superior State University in Sault St. Marie Michigan. He played parts of 5 seasons in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators and the Calgary Flames.

Troy Mann is currently the head coach of the Belleville Senators of the AHL. He played for 4 years at the University of Toronto, before embarking on a 10 year international and minor pro career. In 2005 he began his coaching career in the ECHL, and for the last 8 years he has been a head coach in the American Hockey League, with the Hershey Bears, and Belleville Senators.

David Bell is an assistant coach with the Belleville Sens. He played for the Ottawa 67’s for 4 years before moving on to the ECHL, and the AHL. In 2004 he joined the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL as an assistant coach. He has coached with the Barrie Colts, Sudbury Wolvws and Niagara Ice Dogs, before moving to the AHL with the Ontario Reign, and eventually the Belleville Senators.

Vince Tarantino played for 4 years at SUNY-Potsdam in the NCAA. After a few years of minor pro hockey Vince Joined the Niagara IceDogs where he is currently a skills coach and scout.
