Quinte AAA Red Devils – Season in Review

The 2025-26 Quinte Red Devils (QRD) season concluded as one of the most successful chapters in the organization’s history, defined by a massive organizational record of 232-94-30. As the program transitions into its annual awards season and upcoming tryouts, the past year stands as a testament to high-performance development and consistent playoff dominance across nearly every age group.

U16 AAA: A Powerhouse Performance

The U16 Red Devils were the season’s flagship team, finishing tied for first in the OMHA East regular season with 55 points (26–5–2–1 record). Their offensive depth was unmatched, led by top OHL prospects

Lauchlan Whelan (32G, 54pts) and Andrew Laurin (26G, 51pts).

  • Playoff Dominance: The team entered the OMHA Championships as the #1 seed from the East after a blistering 7–1 postseason run.
  • Championship Run: At the OMHA Championships in Peterborough, the U16s went undefeated in group play, including a 3–0 shutout of the Ajax-Pickering Raiders and a 4–1 win over the Niagara North Stars. They ultimately fell in a heartbreaking 5–4 semifinal thriller against the Credit River Capitals.
  • Pro Outlook: Heading into the 2026 OHL Draft, multiple Red Devils are high on scout radars. Lauchlan Whelan is consistently ranked as a top-20 prospect (as high as #11 by Breakaway Prospects), while Andrew Laurin and Austin Ottenhof also hold top-100 rankings.

U13 AAA: The “Undefeated” Streak

Perhaps the most consistent team in the organization, the U13 squad made headlines with an incredible 11–0 start to their season. They maintained this momentum through the spring, posting dominant playoff scores such as an 11–0 win over Central Ontario and a 13–0 victory against Ajax-Pickering.

Success Across the Board

  • U18 AAA: Despite the challenge of losing players to Junior C, the U18s secured a crucial 3–2 win over Markham in late February to punch their ticket to the OMHA Championships.
  • U11 AAA: The younger Devils showcased their talent early, reaching the Championship Final at the Bell Capital Cup in Ottawa and capturing the U11AAA Shootout Challenge Championship Cup.
  • U10 AAA: The “BIHC” Red Devils finished strong with three big playoff wins in March, highlighted by a resilient 4–1 victory over the Raiders.

Organization & Development Updates

Off the ice, the 2025–26 season saw the implementation of a new unified development plan. All teams now conduct development sessions on the same nights, ensuring high-performance coaching is consistent from U10 through U18.

As the organization celebrates its players at the Golden Heart and Hammy Awards, the focus now shifts to the 2026–2027 tryouts and the next wave of talent looking to wear the Red Devils crest.
