QUINTE RED DEVILS WEEKLY REPORT – Nov. 27/23

The Bonn Law QRD U13 Team won 3 games in a row this weekend, picking up 6 more points in regular season league play.

On Friday evening, The Red Devils traveled to Bowmanville for an evening tilt with Clarington and skated away with an 8-0 win. Rowyn Haley and Fisher Kernohan each had a pair of goals in the game. Holden Goulah, Noah Hughes, Miller Nicholson and Cameron Stevens, all added singles. Assisting on the goals; James Gullage (4), Oliver McCulloch (3), Brody Grant (2), Mason Whalen, Edmund Dowling, Noah Hughes. Dax Sage was sharp in net, to earn the shutout and the win for his team. James Gullage was the player of the game.

On Saturday, The Red Devils hosted The Ajax Pickering Raiders for a game in Warkworth. It was the Raiders who struck first in this one, but The Red Devils came storming back, scoring 11 straight goals, on their way to an 11-2 win. Rowyn Haley and Austin Pettey each scored a pair of goals in this one. Also lighting the lamp in the game; Nicholson, Grant, McCulloch, Kyler Patterson, Tyler Martin, Stevens and Shea Teather, Chipping in with helpers on the goals; Gullage (3), Nicholson (2), Kernohan (2), Grant, Stevens, Goulah, Patterson,Pettey. Matt Travers was solid in net for the win and Brody Grant was player of the game. 

In their third game of the weekend, The Devils traveled to Markham for a tilt with the Waxers. The boys came out flying in this one, and Austin Pettey scored two quick goals to get them rolling, on their way to a 10-3 win. Also scoring in the game; Teather, Stevens, Goulah, Nicholson, Patterson, Thomas Marsden, McCulloch and Haley. Assists; Gullage (2), Hughes (2), Stevens (2) Kernohan, Marsden, Whalen, Martin, Goulah, Grant. Dax Sage earned his second win of the weekend between the pipes, and Austin Pettey was player of the game.

The Gillespie’s Tree Service U14 Quinte Red Devils had a busy week as they competed in the Gloria Rints Memorial Silver Stick Tournament in Whitby. 

The tournament kicked off early on Thursday afternoon when the Devils faced off with the Markham Majors which resulted in a 1-1 tie. The lone goal was scored by Dahle assisted by B. Aird and Clow, while Gayle was between the pipes. Rolling into Friday the Devils played against the Detroit Honeybaked squad which led to a disappointing 5-2 loss. Goals scored by Seguin and Whelan, assists going to Clow, Minifie and Peeters. Early Saturday morning the team played against the Sudbury Wolves, dropping this game 4-1 with a goal from Laurin, assisted by Beebe. To cap the weekend off, the Devils got back into the win column Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins. Goals came from Peeters, Whelan, Laurin and Dahle. Assists by B. Aird, Clow, Harold, Kennedy, Whelan and Laurin. Ferriss in net for the W. 

ON DECK: The Devils get back into the swing of the regular season with games this weekend against Whitby and Oshawa.

A tie and a loss for the Madison Excavating Red Devils this Week

On Thursday evening, the U12 Madison Excavating Quinte Red Devils took to the road to face off against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders in an action-packed game. The Devils were the first to strike, with a goal at the four minute and thirty-eight second mark of the first period. The Raiders responded quickly, finding the back of the net just nine seconds later, leaving the teams tied at one after one. Tensions mounted in the second period, when the Raiders took the lead with a powerplay goal two minutes and forty-three seconds in. The Devils fought back, scoring on their own powerplay just over three minutes later. QRD then netted two more goals within a five-minute span, establishing a 4-2 lead. The Raiders, however, managed to narrow the gap with a powerplay goal in the final minute of the second frame. Going into the third period, the Devils were up by one when the Raiders scored a crucial powerplay goal only seventeen seconds in, evening the score at four. Despite intense efforts on both sides, neither team found the back of the net for the remainder of the game, resulting in a hard-fought 4-4 tie.

On Sunday afternoon in Oshawa, the Quinte Red Devils had a match-up against the Oshawa Generals. The Generals wasted no time, scoring a goal just fifty-eight seconds in. The Devils were down by one going into the second period, when the Generals netted their second of the game, with fifty-two seconds before the period’s end. The Devils were not ready to back down. They found the back of the net four minutes and twelve seconds into the third, while on a powerplay. Despite their efforts, however, the Devils fell short in their comeback bid, and they took a 2-1 loss.

The 417 Bus Line U11 Red Devils Stay Hot

After winning all three games this weekend, the team improved their league record to 14-0.

Saturday at Noon it was a double header against the North Central Predators. Game 1 was in Marmora and Quinte won by a score of 12-1. Scoring for the Red Devils was Max Norton (3), Mac Brown (2), Kash Nelson (2), Ryker Thompson, Evan Andrews, Noah Gilchrist, Cohen Reid and Graydon Tucker. Picking up assists were Will Beebe (4), Brayden Straughan (3), Linden Ludolph (2), Norton (2), Nelson (2), Reid (2), Brown, Gilchrist, Thompson, Jaxon Elrick and Malkin Courtney. Lily Groeneveld picked up the win in net and Norton was named Devil Of The Day.

Saturday evening the teams played game 2 of their double header at the CAA. Quinte would once against come out on top by a score of 7-2. Red Devil goals were scored by Max Norton (2), Noah Gilchrist (2), Jaxon Elrick, Evan Andrews and Kash Nelson. Picking up assists were Gilchrist, Andrews, Brayden Straughan, Ryker Thompson and Kash Nelson. Blake Laurin was in net for the win and Linden Ludulph was named Devil of The Day.

Sunday the Red Devils hit the road to Ajax to take on the Ajax/Pickering Raiders. Quinte skated to a 9-2 win. Scoring for Quinte was Evan Andrews (2), Cohen Reid (2), Kash Nelson (2), Graydon Tucker, Jaxon Elrick and Max Norton. Picking up assists were Noah Gilchrist (3), Reid (2), Andrews, Nelson, Tucker and Mac Brown. Lily Groeneveld was in net for the win and Evan Andrews was named Devil of The Day.

ON DECK: The 417 Bus Line U11 Red Devils head to New York this coming weekend for two exhibition games against the Syracuse Nationals. They will also visit Cornell University to watch two former Red Devils go head-to-head, when Dalton Bancroft and his Cornell Big Red host Daniel Panetta and his Colgate Raiders.

The Breakaway Fuels U10s Grab 3 of 4 Points on the Road

 The Breakaway Fuels U10s were on the road this weekend for two games. Saturday saw the boys travel to Saint Andrews College to take on the York Simcoe Express. The long drive was evident when the puck dropped as the Express scored just 10 seconds in.  McKinley Gunning would even the score unassisted 4 mins later with Quinte’s only shot of the period. The second period was a fast en- to-end 15 minutes with the teams exchanging 2 goals each. Kai Mackie and Kolton Solmes got the goals with assists going to Ethan Dowling (2), Gunning, and Mackie.  The third period was another exciting period and Deacon Vos made two outstanding glove saves to keep the game tied.  Final score 3-3.

Sunday the young Devils were back on the road to face the Generals in Oshawa. Again, the kids found themselves trailing in the first and wouldn’t really get rolling until the second period where it was all Quinte.  Scoring in the second was Mackie (2) and Avery Thickson. Assists going to Dowling (2), Silas Templar and Mackie. The third would continue the same with the Devils jumping out to a comfortable 5-1 lead on goals by Mackie and Tripp Plumley with assists going to Jax Scott, Evan VanEgmond and Dowling.  Oshawa would get a late powerplay goal and the game would end 5-2.  Jordan Andrews got the win in net and Ryder Bradford won top Devil of the day.

ON DECK: Next weekend sees the Breakaway Fuels Boys head to Hamilton for some tournament play.
