Senators sign forward Angus Crookshank to entry-level contract

OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators announced today that the team has signed forward Angus Crookshank to a three-year entry-level contract which will commence with the 2021-22 season. For the duration of 2020-21, Crookshank has signed an amateur tryout agreement and will report to the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators following a required quarantine period.

A native of North Vancouver, B.C., Crookshank, 21, recently completed his third season of college eligibility with the University of New Hampshire (Hockey East) Wildcats, tying for the team-lead in goals (nine) while tying for second in team scoring with 18 points over 20 of his team’s 23 games. He recorded 63 points (35 goals, 28 assists) and 49 penalty minutes over 90 career collegiate contests.

“Angus proved to be a dominant collegiate player,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “We’re pleased that he’s made the decision to start his professional career which is what we believe is best for the next step in his development.”

Recently recognized as the Hockey East Co-Player of the Week (on Feb. 8), Crookshank was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Month on March 2 after registering at least one point in five of his team’s six games and totaling 11 points (five goals, six assists) in February. The monthly award was the second of his collegiate career after he was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month in Dec., 2018.

Drafted by the Senators in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Crookshank was named to the Hockey East Third All-Star team on March 12.
