Total Sports Quinte welcome Dr. Alan Hetherington/ Sports Injury writer

By Total Sports Quinte

We are glad to welcome Dr. Alan Hetherington to Total Sports Quinte. Dr. Hetherington is a chiropractor at Kerr Chiropractic Clinic in Downtown Belleville. He will be writing articles on sports injury, management, and prevention to help athletes, coaches, and parents better understand how they can remain health and perform at their best.

Dr. Hetherington is originally from Oshawa, ON. He completed his undergraduate studies at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY while on scholarship for NCAA Cross Country. While at Hofstra, he was team captain, made the Colonial Athletic Association All-Conference team, and CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. He believes it is important to remain athletic for life and continues to compete in road and trail running races in the Quinte area.

He received his doctor of chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, ON and has been practicing in Belleville since 2022. Kerr Chiropractic Clinic has been providing patient care to the Bay of Quinte area for over 40 years, originally founded by Dr. Tom Kerr. Their team is skilled in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a range of muscle, nerve, and joint conditions. They have experience with a variety of conditions including neck pain, headaches, low back pain, rotator cuff injuries, knee pain, or plantar fasciitis. In addition to chiropractic care, they provide massage therapy, acupuncture, custom orthotics, and electrical modality treatment.

Dr. Hetherington continues to be involved in the sports community. With over 300 soccer matches under his belt as a sideline therapist for semi-professional teams in League1 Ontario, Ontario Provincial teams, and the Ontario Player Development League, he knows what it takes to keep athletes performing at their best.

“I am exited to work with Total Sports. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with athletes in the Quinte region. I took myself from a mediocre runner entering high school into a Division I scholarship athlete and have been through the process of training to reaching my potential as an athlete. I think that is what interested me in a career as a chiropractor. I always visited a chiropractor when I was playing sports growing up to keep myself healthy and recover after games. I received a lot of value from chiropractic care and learned how to be proactive with my health and performance. I hope to share what I have learned as an athlete along with emerging sports injuries research that can help Quinte athletes make better decisions about their health so they can spend less time watching from the sidelines.”
