The Quinte U11 Red Devils wrapped up their regular season with three wins in four days.
On Thursday the York Simcoe Express travelled to Trenton to play a make-up game for a cancellation last Sunday due to the snowstorm. The home team would jump on them early when Ethan Dowling found the back of the net less than two minutes in. Assists went to Jackson Simpson and Jared Russell. Despite relentless pressure the first period would end 1-0. The second again was all Quinte but this time they would bulge the twine four times. Scorers were Tripp Plumley, Dowling, Simpson and Reid Haley. Assists went to Kolton Solmes, Evan VanEgmond, Russell, Kai Mackie x 2, Dowling and Jayden Stehlik. Jordan Andrews stood tall in the third to preserve the shutout and give the boys a 5-0 win. Jared Russell took home player of the game honours.
Saturday was fan and sponsor appreciation day at the MacKay for the U11 crew and they would not disappoint the large crowd in their contest versus the North Shore Whitecaps. This time they would score two in the first and two in the second on their way to a 4-1 win. Scoring for the Devils was Ryder Bradford, Greyson Rennie and Simpson (2). Assists went to Simpson (2), Dowling (2), Mackie, Silas Templar, Avery Thickson. Deacon Vos not only picked up the win but chipped in with an assist as well. Tripp Plumley would take home the player of the game fork.
Sunday the young devils headed to Peterborough to wrap up their regular season. As always the Pete’s came to play and gave the Devilsall they could handle. The Whitecaps would jump out to a 2-0 lead before Ewan Dahle forced a turnover at the blue line and potted a solo effort to cut the lead in half. The teams would trade goals again before the end of the second with Trent Clow taking another Whitecaps turnover from his own blue line and tucking it just under the bar to close the second period with the Devils down 3-2. Andrew Laurin would tie the game at 3 with a power play marker set up with some great passing by Trent Clow and Spencer Harold. Quinte would give up the next 2 goals before Laurin notched his second straight from Brechen Aird and Clow. It was not to be on this night though as the team came up on the wrong end of a 6-4 score. Saturday night saw the Devils head East down the 401 to wrap up their regular season against the Gaels in Kingston. A tight checking affair saw no scoring until well into the second period when Andrew Laurin picked up a lose puck on the wall and fed Ewan Dahle in the slot to put the Devils up 1-0. Dahle would tally his second of the night on the power play early in the third frame. Laurin and Brechen Aird would pick up helpers as well. Trent Clow got on the scoresheet as well banging home a rebound off a combined Jack Sutton and Austin Preston effort. The Gaels would get one back before Lawson Minifie sealed the deal into an empty net. Jax Martin and Preston picked up helpers as well to send QRD to the post season on a winning note.
