Some PJHL games postponed

The Frankford Huskies junior C hockey club postponed its remaining December games until the new year.

They were scheduled to play the Raiders in Napanee on Friday night and host the Amherstview Jets on Saturday evening in Frankford.

“Due to the evolving situation and rapid spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, we felt it was best to be safe,” Huskies director of operations Frank Robinson stated in a release. “I talked our management team and those of our opponents and we are in agreement. We owe it to our fans, volunteers, city staff, the Frankford Lions, our opponents and our players to be safe.”

New game dates will be set in the near future.

Some other Provincial Junior Hockey League games are still scheduled, including the Raiders heading to Campbellford on Saturday evening to face the Rebels and the Picton Pirates heading to Port Hope to take on the Panthers. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s game between the Jets and Rebels in Amherstview has been postponed.

Napanee is still scheduled to head to Picton on Thursday, Dec. 23 for a 7:30 p.m. match-up.
