Quinte Bay gymnasts excel at national championships

The month of July was a big one for Quinte Bay Tumbling and Acrobatic athletes. They both attended the Canadian National Championship in their respective disciplines where the best athletes from across the country come together to compete.

Wrestling legends coming to Tyendinaga Sept 16

Announced guests so far include women’s legend Mickie James as well as Tatanka, Brutus the Barber Beefcake, Tommy Dreamer, Kon (formerly of WWE’s The Ascension) and Nick Aldis, who will also wrestle on the show that afternoon.

Spirits are high for local girls basketball

Following a successful 2022-2023 campaign, the Belleville Spirits girls basketball program will look to continue that momentum into next season. Three Spirits teams captured provincial gold – U16 in Division 1, U14 and U19B in Division 5 – while the U19A team placed third in the highest OBLX level.

Ottawa Senators announce additions to hockey operations department

BELLEVILLE, ON – Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion announced today additions to the team’s hockey operations department. An Ottawa native, and former Senators forward, Ben Sexton has been promoted from the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators and joins Senators’ head coach D.J. Smith’s staff as an assistant coach.

A hot start and productive special teams gave the Wellington Dukes their first victory of the young OJHL season.

The Dukes did the job of spoiling the Pickering Panthers home opener with a 9-0 win on Sunday night on the strength of six powerplay markers and a shorthanded lamp-lighter.

35 years of excellence congregating inside Duke Dome Friday night

Prior to the current Dukes home opener versus the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, the organization will honour more than 40 alumni players, former coaches, staff members and volunteers for their time spent with the team, dating back to the late 80s and early 90s. Many of the older players came from the former Jr. B days of the Belleville/Trenton Bobcats that transitioned to the Dukes.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE: Belleville Club Celebrates Decade of Ultimate Competition

Belleville Ultimate Disc Association celebrated 10 years of offering frisbee competition in the Quinte region in 2022.

Now in its 11th year, BUDA has leagues year-round and is introducing the sport to younger athletes as well. 
Vice-president Jaye Dilts recalled learning of ultimate from a softball teammate before they began playing recreationally in Belleville. A small gathering tossed the disc around and played a modified game.
